Rainbow Honey Mini Mystery Bag - November 2015

What is Rainbow Honey?: Rainbow Honey is a monthly nail polish subscription box where you get not only nail polishes, but you get random beauty things (soaps, scrubs, oils, etc) as well! There's a mini version and a full-size version, so you can choose how much you want. The bags are the same, but the mini bag has mini polishes while the full size one has full sized polishes. There's also bigger extras in the full size bag and sometimes there's an extra.

How Much is Rainbow Honey?: Rainbow Honey is $10/month (plus $2.95 shipping) for the mini bag and $25/month for the full size. You also don't have to pay shipping for the full size bag.

If you want to see past bags, be sure to click here!

Something exciting but not pictured is that I received the Magic Buttons box, which you can see the spoiler here. That means that I will be one of the first to get the new Magic Buttons subscription, and yes, I will be reviewing it.
Also, Rainbow Honey informed us as to why the mini subscription has had the smaller bottles, it was due to an error with the other bottles. They're expecting it to be fixed by the new year. They sent two of the three colors in full size to make up for it, which is nice! I have all three colors to show you today, but minis will only get two of these.

Love this bag! It's so much cooler than just the bubble wrap and it is something nifty to have around to carry a few nail polishes and accessories.

But, it still came wrapped safely in bubblewrap!

Bloody Weapon - Our Final Battle Collection will be returning with a brand new weapon, that is rich, dark, and bloody! This weapon is a must have in your corner and on your nails with a shield of glossy!
I have all of the Final Battle collection from a past purchase, so I was thrilled to find out they were bring it back with a new polish! The collection is one of my favorites, it has something for everyone, and it's based on a game that is very popular in this house. The polish itself is wonderful, I love the metallic finish and how it looks just on its own. Definitely gorgeous and a huge win!

Swatch, two coats.

Interstellar Ice - When Diamond Dust collides with Cosmic Ice, a star is born and this icy blue topper will turn heads towards your crystallized nails! Pair it with Bloody Weapon or Pyro Bot for interstellar nails! Look out for a new glitter topper collection coming soon!
I decided to layer this gorgeous top coat over Bloody Weapon, just to see what it would turn out like. Boy, was it worth it. The shimmer over the dark purple makes it pop! It looks great over just about any color, or on its own. :)

Swatch Saturday! Smokey Mountain Lacquers

Disclosure: These polishes were sent to me at a discount for the purpose of a review. All opinions are my own.

It's time for another Swatch Saturday. This week, the polishes are from Smokey Mountain Lacquers, which hails from the Smokey Mountains in North Tennessee, as the name suggests. Being a Southern girl, I knew I was interested in trying out this brand and buying local. Three of these are still available for purchase, so make sure you snatch yours up quick!

First off, check out how this was packaged! It could easily be purchased as a gift and all you need is to wrap the box! Presentation is such a big thing with me, so this was so nice.

Ipsy Glam Bag - November 2015

le Monthly Mystery - December 2015

Disclosure: This bag was sent to me in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

What is le Monthly Mystery?: le Monthly Mystery is a monthly subscription bag brought to you by le Polish, a new indie polish brand. Each month will include a full size limited edition polish (seasonally appropriate) and a hand-care or beauty product (can include a cuticle balm, lotion, or soap). You have until the end of the previous month to get the following month's bag!

How Much is le Monthly Mystery?: le Monthly Mystery is $13/month with free shipping. You can get it for a discounted rate with a longer subscription.

If you liked last month's bag but missed the color, it's actually currently available in the le Polish Overpour section!

Again, it came wrapped super nicely. I was so pleased when it came in, because it's such a mystery! I'm the kind of person that looks at spoilers as soon as they're available, so this one is fun because it's never been seen before!

Another info card. This is one of the best things that can be put with a subscription.

10, 9, 8... - A New Year's Eve Celebration in a bottle! A black crelly packed with shimmer and gold confetti glitter. It's like being there when the ball drops!
As soon as I saw this, I knew it was for NYE. Just looking at it makes it clear that it's the perfect polish for a night out or a celebration. I love all of the gold flakes in it, they pick up so nicely you can see the gold bits even under another layer of polish. It does add a bit of texture, so make sure to use a good top coat to level it out!

Swatch Saturday! le Polish Review

I'm starting something a little different for Saturdays, where I'm swatching and reviewing some polishes! I might end up doing eye shadows as well, but for now it's nail polish! So, welcome to Swatch Saturday!

If you remember, I reviewed le Polish's Monthly Mystery last month (and yes, there will be another one very soon!), but I ended up buying some of her gorgeous polishes for my own pleasure! So today I have four to show you! I apologize up front, because it seems like Mother Nature knows when I'm swatching and I get almost no sun. I did my best, though! I had to share these gorgeous polishes, and they're all available for purchase!

First up is Morning Frost Morning Frost is described on the website as a brilliant gold shimmer topcoat [...] One coat is a perfect gold shimmer topcoat, while three coats is an opaque polish on it's own.

I know it's technically a top coat, but I had to see what this ended up like as a polish on its own. It was so worth it. This is a gorgeous white/silvery base with so much gold shimmer in it that it's truly ridiculous. This was the most difficult to apply, but that's more that I was trying to get it opaque. Still, it looks perfect at two coats, but would be truly opaque with three. Once I put this on, I realized it would be the perfect addition to a Christmas manicure. More than that, I'm trying it over other polishes to see how the gold shimmer effects the base!

In the swatches, you can tell that I couldn't get it truly in focus. So much shimmer + no natural light = a bit blurry.

Two coats, in focus (mostly)

Two coats (out of focus)

Next is October Ocean. October Ocean is described on the website as a beautiful navy blue polish full of gold shimmer and sparkle and subtle scattered holo [...] such a complex deep blue, it’d be perfect for the base of a galaxy mani!

Next is a dark blue. I'm a huge fan of blues, so this polish had a bit to live up to. I could definitely see it being perfect for a galaxy manicure. It's such a dark blue, and it looks so close to black in some lights, which is so awesome. The faint holographic in it is so perfect, and I love how the whole polish is a mini galaxy, and you can make it super awesome by sponging a few other colors on! The polish itself is super easy to apply and ended up super smooth!

Lip Addicts Anonymous - November 2015

What is Lip Addicts Anonymous?: Lip Addicts Anonymous is a monthly subscription by Kiss My Sass, an indie makeup brand. Each bag will include one exclusive full sized lip product, two cosmetic samples, one bath & body sample, and one exclusive coupon code, per the website.

How Much is Lip Addicts Anonymous?: Lip Addicts Anonymous is $8.00/month plus shipping, which was $2.25 for first class for me. You can also choose priority shipping, but that is (of course) more.

I decided to try a different indie subscription after cancelling/skipping some, and I thought this one would be a fun one to try!

First look. I love when things come in cute little bags like this. Everything came packaged nicely and I could already smell that candy!

Info card! We all know how much I love info cards!

Lip Tint (Tiramisu) ($6.00) - Warm shimmering bronze.
This smells amazing, just like mocha! It's a good neutral, but it didn't show any color on my lips. it added some shimmer and made my face smell really good, but I didn't see any change. That being said, it will most likely be a light lip shade on just about everyone else. I definitely expected it to be a bit darker, based on the name.

Blue Apron Part 3 + Coupon!

This box was sent to me in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

What is Blue Apron?: Blue Apron is a weekly meal subscription box where you get to pick what meals you want to get each week or you can skip if you aren't interested that week. There's two options, a 2-Person Meal Plan where you get three meals per week with the perfect portions for two people each or the Family Plan where you get two or four meals made for four!

How Much is Blue Apron?: Blue Apron is $59.94/week ($9.99/serving) for the 2-Person Meal Plan, $69.92/week ($8.74/serving) for the 2 Meal Family Plan, and $139.84/week ($8.74/serving) for the 4 Meal Family Plan. Like I mentioned before, you can skip any weeks you aren't interested in and you are able to cancel any time! If you want to get your two meals free, click here!

All three meals came in a box with everything perfectly separated. The fresh ingredients were at the top of the box and were separated from the sealed meats on the bottom. The ice packs were still very much frozen when the box came in, so the food would have been fresh had I not brought the box in when they arrived. The little extras beyond the fruits, veggies, and meats were bagged and labeled for each meal. It was an easy way to figure out what was needed for each meal! If you want to see my other two meals from Blue Apron, click here.

My third and final meal from Blue Apron was Catfish Piccata & Fresh Fettuccine with Verjus Blanc & Spinach. The other two meals were things I new both myself and husband would eat, but I actually chose this one mostly for him. I'm not a big fish eater, but I was sure he would love this.

ChloeMeranda Punching Bag - November 2015 + Coupon Code

What is ChloeMeranda Punching Bag?: ChloeMeranda's Punching Bag is a monthly subscription by the indie maker, ChloeMeranda. If the name sounds familiar to you, it should. I've reviewed a few of her products as well as doing a giveaway for two bags of her's here. The products are great and you can purchase them individually or grab this bag each month to get something new and fresh! If you love the products but want it in a different scent, be sure to contact her, she can make customs!

The best part of this bag, though, a product is donated to Pretty & Polished's Cancer Care Packages for each bag sold. So you get handmade products each month, and a product is donated as well!

How Much is ChloeMeranda Punching Bag?: The bag is only $8.00/month, but you also pay $3.00 in shipping. If you are purchasing the bags, however, you can combine with other items to get your shipping lower per item. Currently the bag is only available to purchase month to month, but it's still available to purchase right now!

If you want to save 15% on your ChloeMeranda purchase, use code Kiersten!

First off, the bag comes super cute with a little ribbon. It's the little touches!

FrenchBox - October 2015

What is FrenchBox?: FrenchBox is a bimonthly subscription box that lets you discover France in your mailbox! Each box delivers at least five beauty, lifestyle and food products. Items are full sized, deluxe sized, and sample sized, but all are brand name items! I'm loving all of these French items, and last month's Tea Towel has found it's place in my new house! Their products are doing a great job introducing me to new brands and bringing a little bit of France into my house.

How Much is FrenchBox?: FrenchBox is $36/box. You can also buy old boxes that are still available, either for full price or at a discount. They currently offering the build your own box as they were in the past, but I will let you know as soon as that comes back!

Yay, it's another FrenchBox!

The theme is La femme francaise, which is about French women and how they are balanced while having life's little pleasures.

French Macarons Mix (Vanilla) ($14.00) - Oh my, the box alone smells so great. I'm super excited to try making Macaroons, since I've never made them before. The mix doesn't include the filling, so I will have to find the recipe to make that as well. This mix isn't super hard to make, and it's obviously French! In the information booklet, it says to fill the with ice cream, jelly, cream cheese, or chocolate. I'm pretty sure I know which one I'm using, but I'd love some suggestions!

Blue Apron Part 2 + Coupon!

This box was sent to me in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

What is Blue Apron?: Blue Apron is a weekly meal subscription box where you get to pick what meals you want to get each week or you can skip if you aren't interested that week. Like I mentioned before, you can skip any weeks you aren't interested in and you are able to cancel any time! If you want to get your two meals free, click here!

If you want to see my first meal from Blue Apron, click here.

After trying my Steak, I was curious to try Spicy Korean Chicken Wings with Rice Cakes and Baby Bok Choy. As you can see, this recipe doesn't have a ton of ingredients, so I was curious to see how the flavors would combine.

Easy enough, you just roast the wings. You make the sauce by hand, which was super easy to do. We ended up using all of the gochujang, which you're only supposed to do if you want it spicy. I gave my husband the option, and he said to go for it. I like being able to make your own sauce, rather than something pre-packaged. It's nice to be able to control the flavors, if you have food concerns or don't want it to be too terribly spicy or if you want it super spicy!

NatureBox Review

What is NatureBox?: NatureBox is a food subscription box that actually gives you the option to pick what you want to get! You can choose to get three or five snacks per box, and you can also choose how often you want to get your snacks!

How Much is NatureBox?: NatureBox is $19.95/box for five snacks and $13.95/box for three snacks. You get free shipping in the US and pay $4.95 for shipping to Canada. You can also add on premium snacks for an additional cost of $3-$6 each.

Confession time, I had 100% thought I canceled this box. It was actually billed to an old card under my maiden name and my parent's address, two addresses ago. I'm not sure how it actually got to me, but it did. I didn't have any snacks chosen (I found out after that it was due to the ones I had picked last time I got this box weren't even available anymore), so it was just completely random. I thought it was a good way to show how your box will be if you don't choose snacks, so I'm sharing!

The boxes are huge, like won't fit in mailboxes huge. Since I had no clue I was getting this box, I have no clue how long it took to get to me (my old address).

Fuji Apples - They're pretty nice for what they are, but I'm definitely not a fan of dried apples. I love Fuji apples when they are fresh, but these just tasted a bit stale to me. There's also not a ton in there, so it's definitely not a long-term snack. They would be nice to throw in some trail mix for a good snack, though!

Salt & Pepper Pistachios - Husband definitely will eat all of these. He loves his pistachios, so these weren't a big concern. I'm going to put them in bags for him to take to work to munch on, so these were a good win.

Blue Apron Part 1 + Coupon!

The little extras beyond the fruits, veggies, and meats were bagged and labeled for each meal. It was an easy way to figure out what was needed for each meal!

My first meal was the Sumac-Spiced Steak & Roasted Honeynut Squash with Pickled Onion & Apple-Walnut Salad. We're big steak eaters in this house, so this was an obvious choice. I wasn't sure of my pickling skills and we've never eaten squash prior to trying this meal, but I thought it would be an interesting thing to try.

As you can see in this picture, my mint was very much wilted when I made this meal (two days after the box came in). It wasn't a huge loss, but it would have bothered me had the mint been something more pertinent to the meal.

First step was to roast the squash. This was my very first time even preparing squash, so I was completely green to how the instructions would have me cook this. It was very easy to prepare and I loved how bright it was. It does require a sturdy knife to cut and you do have to put a bit of muscle behind it, but it's so worth it. The worst part was removing the seeds and pulp, which is reminiscent of a tough pumpkin.

NorthernStarPolish Harry Potter Gift Set

This set was provided to me in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

Today I have something a little different, but something so amazing to share! I was lucky enough to receive this gorgeous set from NorthernStarPolish to share with you! NorthernStarPolish is an indie maker that specializes in nail polishes, cuticle oils, and cuticle balms! This is the second set that I've picked up (the other review will be up at a later date) and this one is made just for Harry Potter fans! Being a geeky/nerdy girl, of course I was interested.

This set includes:
-a Northern Star full size polish, Protego Totalum
-a Northern Star full-size cuticle oil, Butter Brew
-two reusable owl nail charms
-holographic lightening bolt glitters
-a bottle of red and gold glitters and a bottle charm.

Everything comes packed in a gorgeous box and it's sealed, so it's ready to be given as a gift to someone, or ready to give to yourself!

Everything is super gorgeous laid out, and check out how much stuff is included in this!

First off, this is an absolutely amazing polish. Protego Totalum is a cranberry red linear holographic polish with gold microglitter! It applies wonderfully and could be easily opaque in one thicker coat. I used two thinner coats for this swatch. I love the holographic, mostly because I love all holos, but the gold is my favorite. I love how gold reflects off of the red! After removal, there wasn't any staining, which is wonderful for a red polish.

This is under a light box white lamp.

Pretty & Polished Beauty Box - November 2015

What is Pretty and Polished?: Pretty and Polished is an indie nail polish brand that also sells bath & body products, nail vinyls, and this Beauty Box! This is a box that you get to choose which months you want to get, rather than a subscription that you have to cancel or skip. Just remember to buy it each month if you want to continue!

How Much is Pretty and Polished Beauty Box?: Pretty and Polished Beauty Box is only $22.00/month! Each box contains a coupon that could be 10% off or $5.00 off to use in the store as well, which means you can get more polish and products from this amazing maker. You can buy for 1, 3, 6, or 12 months at a time, and the boxes are cheaper at 6 months!

We're back to basic boxes for Pretty & Polished, which is fine!

Back to the Fuchsia - This looks like just a general purple polish with pink pieces, right? Well, you're wrong. Back to the Fuchsia is a thermal (color changing) polish! When it's cold, it's the fuchsia purple you see in the bottle shot. When it's warm, it's a fuchsia pink, seen in the swatch below. This is my first thermal polish, so I was super excited. It's been super chilly recently, so I couldn't keep it fully pink in the swatch. There is just the slightest bit of texture from the glitter pieces, which is easily solved with a top coat!

Cold swatch, two coats.

Warm swatch, two coats. Apologies that my tips were turning purple.

Midnight Matinee - Check out this gorgeousness. It's a black base with tons of glitter pieces! I've found purple, red, blue, and black so far, and it all complements each other so nicely. I love how it is almost a microglitter, but the black base makes the glitters pop! It does feel like a microglitter when on, meaning that there is texture and it's a bit rough. Not quite like Julep's Stardust, but there's still some there. I got it smoothed out with two coats, but one thicker coat should do the same.
